How disappointing to have a hit and miss meal and what attitude. Dover sole is so delicious when cooked properly. I've had two incredible (and expensive) meals at Lindsay House in 1998 and 2005, but perhaps Corrigan was more focused then. I hope you've recovered? This was Valentine's Eve. I'd never dream of going to a restaurant on Valentine's Day. As you say it's never a fair reflection of the restaurant's talents.

That said we did have an excellent Valentine's breakfast at Heston's Little Chef the next morning!Brownershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09494760235889452922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906220867589613765.post-6376745322218032512009-02-16T14:58:00.000+00:002009-02-16T14:58:00.000+00:00Eating out on Valentine's Day has always disappoin...Eating out on Valentine's Day has always disappointed me. So I spare myself (and the restaurants?) the angst and usually cook in on Valentine's Day. That said, even if Bentley's was having a one-off bad (Valentine's) day, it's awful to part with that much cash and not have a good meal.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906220867589613765.post-61529754324133777342009-02-16T14:04:00.000+00:002009-02-16T14:04:00.000+00:00It's very unfortunate that our meal wasn't up to s...It's very unfortunate that our meal wasn't up to scratch as I desperately wanted to love it.

I can see why Bentley's is much loved. I was almost physically sick to see the way they were kept at the oyster bar in Whole Foods last week - speared upright into the ice so that all the lovely juices slowly seeped out into the display. Totally pointless - I nearly said something.Chris Poplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668565800857295023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906220867589613765.post-70178213623142074492009-02-16T10:08:00.000+00:002009-02-16T10:08:00.000+00:00Oh how disappointing! Loved the description of how immaculately presented they were - makes me want to go right now! Such a shame the rest of the meal wasn't up to scratch though, especially at that price. Perhaps just visit for champagne and oysters? Although, if they are going to refuse you a drink at the bar, why bother!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4906220867589613765.post-82078654803743903552009-02-16T10:04:00.000+00:002009-02-16T10:04:00.000+00:00At least the oysters were good I suppose.
