Master Chef Final

Cowie and I are both very excited about the final of Master Chef tonight. James has got to win, but we are both big fans of Emily who we are predicting will create something absolutely bonkers tonight. She's certainly got a lot of friends. My colleague is in love with her!

Here's what Cowie would cook if she was in the final:

Cerviche of trout.

Anjou of pigeon, with an velvet jus, Jerusalem artichokes and greens

A trio of chocolate puddings... a mini chocolate and hazelnut soufflé, mini chocolate fondant, mini white chocolate moose with raspberries.. It would somehow all marry together and be really light!

Maybe a twill bicie on top!

-------------------------------------

And here's my menu:

Skate cheefs, sous vide with black pudding foam. Served with a yuzu tuile

Venison fillet with 80% butter mashed potato

Tuna with sugar cane rammed through it Cuban style

Candy floss with rose petals

----------------------------------

It's got me all excited. Looking forward to the showdown tonight and very disappointed that it will all be over so soon.

  1. Hi guys, your menus both sound great (although Cowie's trio of chocolate puddings wins by a nose for me).

PS - You have been tagged for a MeMe:

And we'll be following up with MeMe very soon. How excited to be tagged.

    Cheers

  4. You've got my attention with the skate cheeks! Cowie's dessert does sound wonderful, but risky... (souffle? did you learn nothing from watching Sheridan on Masterchef??;))

I desperately wanted Emily to win. I think it was only Gregg's stubborn refusal to go with her more flamboyant, 'divisive' creations that put paid to her chances. But I do think the judges should stand by what they say - so if, as they did, they call her cooking the most exciting they've seen (or ever hope to see) in this country, then how can they not crown her the champ? Like, d'uh.

  5. What an amazing talent Emily is. Completely original. I couldn't believe John cried and then they didn't crown her champion. That said James has the best technical skills and has the most maturity. Johnnie wasn't really in the running.

I seriously want to go to Troisgros and Bras. Both look sensational.

I just hope that Emily has a great time at Oxford and then opens a restuarant or starts appearing on telly or writing foodie books.

Best series yet. But only when it got to the final. The rest was quite poor.

I agree with your sentiment about Greg. Far too old fashioned and closed minded. Embrace creativity.
